The agreement between you and Thromblo Creates for playing AwayWard.
Last updated: June 19, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the AwayWard game and its online services, and this website, all provided by Thromblo Creates ("we", "us"). By downloading, installing or playing AwayWard, or by using this site, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the game or this site.
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to play. If you are a minor in your jurisdiction, you should review these Terms with a parent or guardian.
AwayWard does not use passwords. Your online profile is tied to a device identifier generated by the game. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your device and for any name, @handle or content you choose. Keep your device identifier private; anyone who obtains it can act as your online profile.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and play AwayWard for your own non-commercial entertainment. You may not sell, rent, reverse engineer (except where that right cannot be excluded by law), or redistribute the game except by sharing the unmodified official build with a friend.
You agree not to:
We use automated filtering and may review shared content. We may remove content, reset or adjust online records, and suspend or terminate access for violations.
Content you create and share through online features (such as your display name, @handle, clan name and published house layout) remains associated with you, but you grant Thromblo Creates a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display and distribute it within the game's social features so they can function. You are responsible for the content you share, and we may remove content that violates these Terms.
The online layer is cooperative and asynchronous, with no real-time player-versus-player combat. Because the game is client-authoritative, the server cannot fully verify reported stats. We therefore bound inputs and may correct, reset or remove records (including leaderboard, ladder, faction and season standings) to preserve fairness, with no compensation for adjusted standings. Online services may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued. Offline Mode remains available regardless of the online services.
AwayWard and this website are developed with the assistance of Anthropic's Claude AI models as a development tool. The game and its backend do not send your personal or gameplay data to AI models during play. See our Privacy Policy for details.
While AwayWard is in beta, the game may contain bugs, may change significantly, and online data may be reset. Beta supporters may receive a durable cosmetic entitlement as described in the game and our Privacy Policy. Beta builds are provided for testing and feedback.
AwayWard and this website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the game will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that online data will never be lost.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Thromblo Creates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, progress, virtual items or profits, arising out of or related to your use of the game or this site. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable law.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Thromblo Creates from claims arising out of your breach of these Terms, your content, or your misuse of the game or services, to the extent permitted by law.
You may stop using the game at any time and delete your local save. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the game and its players. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (such as the disclaimers and limitation of liability) will survive.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States of America, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. You agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of the United States for any disputes, subject to any mandatory consumer protections in your own country of residence.
We may update these Terms as the game evolves. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, give notice through the game or our community channels. Continued play after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
Questions about these Terms: use our contact form or reach Thromblo Creates in our official Discord server.
These Terms are provided in good faith as a starting point. They are not legal advice. Before relying on them for a commercial launch, have them reviewed by qualified counsel for your jurisdiction.
